This handmade birch soap mold is a convertible mold designed to be a heavy duty, all in one mold capable of a max capacity of 128 ounces to the rim or 8 pounds of soap! This mold was custom designed to solve all the problems I have had with various soap molds in my 10 years of making soap. I wanted a sturdy, easy to insulate, lidded, wooden mold that could make lots of soap in a standard bar size, square/chunky bar, fancy piped top soaps & tall-skinny bars all in one convertible mold & this is it!
If you fill with 5 1/2 lbs or 88 oz of soap batter, it will create 22 4 ounce bars with a nice standard bar size of 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 x 1″.
TALL, PIPED BAR:
You can also choose to pour 80 oz of soap batter in & then top with another 20 oz of piped soap for a tall, piped top & still have room to put the lid on without messing up your top. This 6 1/4 pound loaf (100 oz) creates 22 4.5 ounce bars if cut 1″ thick.
XL CHUNKY BAR:
This mold filled to the brim fits 128 ounces, or a whopping 8 pounds. Cut your bars 1″ wide & you have chunky 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 square bars of soap that weigh 5.8 ounces each. Now, that’s a hefty, man sized soap!
TALL, SKINNY BAR:
Insert the spacer inside & now your mold is a durable, non bowing tall-skinny mold. Fill with 91 ounces of soap (or 5.7 lbs) to fill the tall skinny to the brim. If you cut your bars 1″ wide you will have 22 bars that are 4.16 oz each. The dimensions of the tall skinny bars are 2 5/16″ wide by 3 1/4 deep.
*These measurements are all based on water volume. Your weights will vary slightly based on your actual soap recipe.
Our convertible mold was handcrafted with 9 ply birch plywood, not pine, for good reason. Pine plywood is cheap & splintery & not nearly as durable as birch. Solid pine boards warp & bow over time especially when subjected to the variable heat & moisture of soap making. I wanted our mold to last for years & years. Cheap wood was not an option.
We designed our mold with no fasteners on the bottom because they can scratch counter tops. We used pocket screws for a durable fastening system. The edges of the mold are nicely routed for a smooth, finished feel. The lid fits the mold with or without the tall-skinny spacer inside. You can close the mold up completely to insulate your soap easily for a full gel or vent the lid slightly to trap some heat but allow moisture escape so your tops don’t get damp & make your sprinkles bleed into your soap top.
This mold is truly the perfect all in one soap mold & represents the culmination of years of soaping. You will get a handcrafted birch mold, birch lid & birch tall-skinny spacer with each order so you can also enjoy making all of these soaps out of one soap mold too!
Outer dimensions: 23 x 4.25″ x 4.25″ (lid on)
Inner dimensions: 22″ x 3.25″ x 3.25″
You can line this mold with a method like this using a trash can liner & petroleum jelly to stick the bag down or even just water sprayed on the mold before the bag works too. It makes lining the mold fast. (Or you can use freezer paper.)

SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION PACKAGES:
We occasionally send more valuable packages with signature confirmation so USPS cannot drop a valuable package on a porch and walk away leaving it open to theft or loss. We utilize this service at our discretion. No loss claims can be filed on a package that is signed for. Damage claims can be filed as stated in the procedures below.
$5 RUSH HANDLING FEE:
This fee means your order is guaranteed to leave Two Wild Hares within 24 business hours of order receipt. No other delivery speed guarantee is implied by this fee. It just means we hurry up and get it on it's way quickly!
Orders cannot be cancelled once they are shipped. Returns are accepted only on a case by case basis. Batch certified colorants are always non refundable or exchangeable because the certification cannot be transferred.
DAMAGED PACKAGE CLAIMS:
To file a claim, within 7 days of receipt, submit photographs of all of the packaging as it was when it arrived and the specific damage to the contents with an explanation of what was lost or broken. USPS often requires photo proof to pay a claim and your claim is likely to be rejected without it. We will supply USPS with the invoice on your behalf. If USPS damages your package, we have to abide by their decision on the claim. We professionally package all orders to avoid damage occurring and damage is actually very rare for us, but if damage happens, claims can take weeks, so please be patient. We cannot speed up USPS claim processing and aren't responsible for any inconvenience as a result of the delay of the delivery of your package because of waiting on damage claims.
If your package is damaged by a dog or another animal, cut by a box cutter while opening, or damaged because of neglect (such as leaving it in a mail box or in the weather for days or not providing a secure location for delivery) Two Wild Hares cannot be held responsible. We are also not responsible for the cost of redelivery of a package if the customer as supplied an incorrect mailing address. Please make sure your address is entered in the USPS standardized format and provide a safe place for delivery. Make sure your local PO knows where to safely leave your packages and pick them up promptly.
We are happy to enter the claim for you on USPS should one be needed and accommodate a reshipment of your package if a claim is paid. If you enter the claim online yourself, we are unable to do anything further for you regarding your damaged package. To file a claim through Two Wild Hares, you must notify Two Wild Hares within 7 days of the receipt of your package. As stated at the top, only Priority Mail packages are insured against damage. We will finish the claim process for you and reship your items if a claim is paid.
If your package is missing in action, we unfortunately have to wait 15 days to file a claim through USPS. We aim for quick and accurate deliveries, but lost packages sometimes happen and are out of our control. We cannot speed up USPS claim processing and aren't responsible for any inconvenience as a result of the delay of having to wait for the 15 days to file a claim. Your package is insured for a maximum of $100 unless you've paid for the additional insurance for the value over $100. To file a claim through Two Wild Hares for a lost package, you must notify us within 30 days of the mailing date of your package. Only Priority Mail packages are insured against loss.
